Feed the Kids Weekend Backpack Program
September 19 4:30 - 5:30pm | Mansfield Cares Warehouse
Feed the Kids Weekend Backpacks is a program of Common Ground Network that supports food insecure kids in our Mansfield ISD with a generally nutritious supply of food they can take home for the weekend. This service opportunity simply requires a willingness to come to pray with a group of people, over a bunch of food, stuff some food bags in an assembly line operation, and fellowship with a bunch of people who want to live out the phrase “thy kingdom come” in Mansfield as in heaven.
We meet every Wednesday @ 4:30 pm at the Mansfield Cares warehouse behind A Caring Place Clinic, on the corner of 6th and Broad St. in Mansfield. That is where we stuff 300+ bags to be distributed to the various schools throughout the MISD. Mansfield cares is a major supporter and partner of Common Ground and especially the Feed the Kids program and they graciously donate the use of their warehouse, in addition to providing significant financial funding of the program.
Then, we pick up or take the food bags designated for our adopted school, Worley Middle School and at some point during the day on Thursday or Friday we take them to the school counselor, Catherine Wimbrey at Worley Middle and she gets them to the kids/families who have need of them.
